What are County Lines?
County lines is a term used to describe organised drug networks that use mobile phone lines to traffic drugs into towns and rural areas. These groups often exploit children and vulnerable adults to move drugs or money on their behalf. This exploitation can involve grooming, threats, violence, and intimidation.
What to Look Out For:
Members of the public can help by being aware of signs that someone may be at risk, including:
Unexplained money, gifts, or new possessions
Going missing from home or school
Sudden changes in behaviour or friendships
Increased secrecy around phone use
Unknown adults hanging around a young person
A child travelling far from home unexpectedly
Our Local Response:
Over the coming weeks, the Northallerton Neighbourhood Police Team will be visiting schools and other locations in and around Northallerton. Our aim is to raise awareness, protect vulnerable people, and work together with the community to stop county lines activity.
